Map depicting Trafalgar, IndianaTrafalgar, Indiana is a tiny Midwest town situated between Franklin, Indiana and Morgantown, Indiana. It’s about a 45 minute drive north from Trafalgar to Indiana state capital Indianapolis, and the town’s residents enjoy having this buffer between their tiny community and the big city bustle of Indianapolis. With a population of just over 700 in the 2000 census, Trafalgar is not exactly a center of anything; things to do in Trafalgar just can’t compare with the motley options you’ll find in Indianapolis. However, if you enjoy the pastoral landscape of the Indiana countryside, the tantalizing flavors of locally owned restaurants, and the peace and quiet that comes from living in a close knit community, Trafalgar may be an excellent place for you to visit.

It is situated in beautiful Southern Indiana, a region with many ravines, ridges, thick forests, intricate cave networks, and high cliffs. Located a short drive to the southwest of Trafalgar are three large nature preservers: Morgan-Monroe State Forest, Yellowwood State Forest, and Brown County State Park. Morgan-Monroe State Forest encompasses 24,000 acres of hiking trails, sweeping valleys, and great fishing spots. The forest has wildlife in abundance and is a good place for an invigorating bike ride. Yellowwood State Forest is slightly smaller than Morgan-Monroe State Forest and offers three clear lakes, horse trails, and camping areas. Brown County State Park is the biggest of the three preserves and is located near Nashville, Indiana. This Indiana park has a huge indoor aquatic center, miles of trails, areas for picnicking, and much more. A trip over to any one of these parks is a fun Trafalgar thing to do.
